Agrarians of the Vinnytsia, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kirovohrad, Lviv, Odesa, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, Chernihiv and Chernivtsi Regions have completed the sowing of spring crops.
This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
Currently, 12.9 million hectares of grain, legumes and oilseeds, as well as sugar beet have been sown.
In particular, grain and legumes have been sown on an area of 5,619,000 hectares, of which: spring wheat - 271,100 hectares, spring barley - 810,000 hectares, peas - 138,500 hectares, oats - 146,200 hectares, corn - 4,014,800 hectares, buckwheat - 119,700 hectares, millet - 49,200 hectares.
Sunflower has been sown on an area of 5,283,800 hectares, soybeans - on an area of 1,773,500 hectares.
Sugar beet sowing has been completed (carried out on an area of 213,100 hectares).
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukraine expects to sow more than 13 million hectares of agricultural land this year.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food predicts a decrease in grain and leguminous crops by 16.6%, or 8.8 million tons, to 44.3 million tons in 2023 compared to 2022.
At the same time, gross production of oilseeds is expected to increase to 19.2 million tons compared to 18.2 million tons of the previous year.
