Agrarians Sow Over 12 Million Hectares With Spring Grains And Oilseeds

As of June 2, agricultural enterprises have sown more than 12 million hectares of spring grains and oilseeds.

This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

At the same time, farmers have sown 5.472 million hectares of grain and leguminous crops.

In particular, spring wheat is sown on an area of 269,500 hectares, spring barley - on 766,100 hectares, peas - on 136,100 hectares, oats - on 145,600 hectares, corn - on 3,892,500 hectares, buckwheat - on 106,100 hectares, millet - on 46,100 hectares, other grains and legumes - on 109,700 hectares.

Over the past week, 193,600 hectares of grain and leguminous crops have been sown.

Sugar beet sowing has been carried out on an area of 213,100 hectares, sunflower - on an area of 5,042,800 hectares, soybeans - on an area of 1,739,300 hectares.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukraine plans to sow more than 13 million hectares of agricultural land this year.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food predicts a decrease in the harvest of grain and leguminous crops by 16.6% or 8.8 million tons to 44.3 million tons in 2023 compared to 2022.

At the same time, the gross production of oil crops is expected to increase to 19.2 million tons against 18.2 million tons the previous year.
