Vedmedyk Barni Included In List Of Sponsors Of War In Ukraine

The National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) included the manufacturer of Vedmedyk Barni [Barney the Bear] in the list of international sponsors of the war.

This is stated in the message of the NACP, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"After the start of a full-scale war, many businesses that care about their reputation left Russia. But this is not about Mondelez International. Apparently, its managers are not bothered by the fact that by paying considerable taxes to the state budget of Moskovia [Russia - ed. note], the company contributes to supporting of the aggressor's army," the NACP reported.

The interests of the company, which has an annual revenue of about USD 26 billion and operates in 160 countries of the world, is represented on the Russian market by LLC Mondelez Russia, which has three factories: the Bolshevik factory, which produces Yubileynoe cookies, OREO, Medvezhonok Barni and TUC crackers, production in Pokrov (Alpen Gold, Vozdushny, Milka chocolate and Picnic bar), factory in Veliky Novgorod (Dirol chewing gum and Halls candies).

The company is the leader of the confectionery market in the categories of chocolate, chocolate candies and biscuits, and also ranks second in the category of chewing gum and caramels.

According to the results of the military year 2022, the profit of the Russian branch of Mondelez International amounted to USD 339 million (+303% for the year), the revenue - more than USD 1 billion (+38% for the year).

The company replenished the aggressor's budget by more than USD 61 million in taxes.

The NACP notes that Ukrainian children will never taste Vedmedyk Barni again.

ADVERTISING

After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Mondelez employees in the Baltic region, which includes Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, sent a petition to the CEO of the company, Dirk Van de Put, with a request to stop all business in Russia, to which Mondelez responded formally - announcing the suspension of new investments and investments in advertising in Russia.

However, judging by the financial indicators, the Russian market remains promising for the company.

Mondelez publicly advertises its charitable assistance to children affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, while at the same time expanding its activities in the aggressor country and continuing to pay significant sums to its state budget.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on May 4, the National Agency on Corruption Prevention added the Hungarian OTP Bank to the list of international sponsors of the war.

On April 13, the NACP included the Chinese corporation Xiaomi Corporation in the list of international sponsors of the war.

On February 6, the NACP recognized the American Procter&Gamble as a sponsor of the war.
