Finance Ministry sells government bonds for UAH 135.9 billion, USD 1 billion, and EUR 87 million in 4M

In the first four months of 2023, the Ministry of Finance attracted UAH 135.9 billion, USD 1,028 million, and EUR 87 million to the state budget by placing domestic government loan bonds.

This follows from a statement by the National Bank, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

The Ministry of Finance placed UAH 135.982 billion in government bonds, up 120.9% year over year.

The ministry also placed securities for USD 1,028 million and EUR 87 million, up 304.6% and down 52.7%, year over year, respectively.

The weighted average return on hryvnia-denominated securities amounted to 19.1% per annum, in dollars – 4.6% per annum (+0.1 p.p.), and in euros – 2.7% per annum.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in 2022, the Ministry of Finance attracted UAH 164.4 billion, USD 2,089 million, and EUR 984 million to the state budget by placing domestic government loan bonds.

In 2021, the Ministry of Finance attracted UAH 287.9 billion, USD 3,096 million, and EUR 783 million to the state budget due to the placement of OVDP bonds.

In 2020, the Ministry of Finance attracted UAH 258.8 billion, USD 3.9 billion, and EUR 845 million to the state budget due to the placement of OVDP bonds.

The Ministry of Finance fulfilled the plan for borrowing to the state budget by 67.3%, attracting UAH 1,261.1 billion in 2022.
