Syrskyi tells about AFU's success near Bakhmut

The advance of Ukrainian troops in the direction of Bakhmut is the first success of offensive actions during the operation to defend Bakhmut.

This follows from a statement by the Ground Forces commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU)/Colonel-General, Oleksandr Syrskyi.

"The last few days have shown we can move forward and destroy the enemy even in such challenging conditions. We fight with fewer resources than the enemy. At the same time, we manage to destroy his plans. All thanks to our fighters who fight the aggressor, overcoming the highest limit of human capabilities," he said.

At the same time, Syrskyi said that this is only a partial success. And that is how it should be perceived. After all, the operation to defend Bakhmut continues.

According to him, all necessary decisions for defense have been made. All possible scenarios of the development of events were worked out with the commanders directly at the site of hostilities.

As earlier reported, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation admitted that they had to retreat to a "new frontier" north of Bakhmut.

Meanwhile, Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar reported that on May 14, Ukrainian defenders captured more than ten enemy positions in the north and south of the outskirts of Bakhmut and cleared a large area of the forest massif in the Ivanovo district. They also captured the occupiers.
