In December, the overall state debt (both direct and state-secured) rose by 1.86% or USD 1.54 billion month over month to USD 84.36 billion. The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports. The state and state-secured debt as at late December 2019 was UAH 1,998.28 billion or USD 84.36 billion over UAH 1,990.78 billion UAH or USD 82.83 billion month over month. In 2019, the state and state-secured debt rose by USD 6.05 billion or UAH 170 billion. The overall size of the direct state debt as at December 31 made UAH 1,761.37 billion (USD 74.36 billion) over UAH 1,750.36 billion (USD 72.82 billion) month over month. At the same time, in 2019, the size of the direct state debt rose by USD 7.2 billion or fell by UAH 98.9 billion in hryvnia equivalent. The direct state debt rose from UAH 814.24 billion to UAH 829.5 billion or from USD 33.88 billion to USD 35.02 billion. As at December 31, 2019, the state-secured debt made UAH 236.91 billion or USD 10.00 billion. As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the overall state direct and state-secured debt of Ukraine in 2018 rose by 2.6% or USD 2.02 billion to USD 78.32 billion.
