Poroshenko, Merkel, Macron Discuss Inclusion Of UN Peacekeeping Mission Deployment In Donbas Into Roadmap Of Minsk Agreements

President Petro Poroshenko, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Angela Merkel and President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron have discussed inclusion of the issue of deployment of a United Nations peacekeeping mission in Donbas into the roadmap of the Minsk agreements reached in Belarus.

President Poroshenko said this to the press after a meeting with Chancellor Merkel and President Macron in Aachen (Germany), Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"On May 18 and 23, Angela Merkel and Emmanuel Macron will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. We have closely agreed the steps to be taken to speed up holding of a Normandy Format meeting. It is likely to take place in Paris (France)," he said.

The President of Ukraine added that he expected close preparation of the meeting agenda to hold it effectively.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, United States Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker will pay an official visit to Ukraine on May 14.

President Poroshenko added that the United States supports Ukraine's efforts in deployment of a United Nations peacekeeping mission and counts on Russia's support to respective draft resolution to be tabled in for consideration by the United Nations Security Council.
