United States Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker has called Ukraine to be ready to provide special status to Donbas and ensure amnesty for militants.
He said this at a security conference, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
Volker said that Ukraine has to undertake complicated steps to return Donbas, inter alia provide those territories special status.
Volker noted that the Russian Federation has to ensure security in the east of Ukraine.
The U.S. Representative also called on the Ukrainian authorities to take care of their citizens living on the occupied territories.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Foreign Affairs Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov considers that Volker's actions contradict efforts of the Normandy Format countries.
