U.S. Secretary Of State Tillerson Hoping For Progress In Settlement Of Donbas Conflict

United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson hopes for progress in settlement of the situation in Donbas.

The U.S. Department of State has said this in a report with the reference to statement by Mr. Tillerson during his meeting with journalists, the Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The United States Secretary expressed hope for professionalism of newly appointed special representative of the United States for Ukraine Kurt Volker and his ability to achieve progress in the situation.

He added that the Russian Federation and other participants in the Normandy Format have welcomed the appointment of Volker.

Tillerson appointed Volker in early July.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on July 23, Volker, Ambassador of the United States to Ukraine Marie L. Yovanovitch and other officials within an official delegation of the U.S. Department of State arrived in the antiterrorist operation zone.

Volker considers impossible any progress in political and humanitarian part of the agreements reached in Minsk (Belarus) on February 12, 2015 unless security items of the agreement are met.
