NATO Opens Trust Fund With Budget Of EUR 2.25 Million To Provide Rehabilitation Of ATO Soldiers

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has opened a trust fund with a budget of EUR 2.25 million to provide rehabilitation of soldiers of the antiterrorist operation.

Oleksandr Labunets, acting head of the Central Military Medical Department / head of the Medical Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, announced this at a news briefing, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"NATO has opened targeted fund for medical rehabilitation of soldiers with the budget of EUR 2.25 million for purchase of expensive medical equipment, training of Ukrainian specialists in rehabilitation, development of medical centers," he said.

He says NATO member states have funded medical treatment and rehabilitation of 287 Ukrainian soldiers abroad. Most of them have been treated in Germany, Estonia, Bulgaria, and Lithuania.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in March 2017, the Defense Ministry of Ukraine said 3,235 military had undergone medical rehabilitation since the start of the antiterrorist operation in the east of the country.
