Ten people were killed and about 100 others were injured as a result of a missile strike by russia, the aggressor country, on the Kyiv Region. A criminal investigation has been launched to determine who made the decision to hold the event during the war and how that decision was made. Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko announced this on his Facebook page on Friday, July 24.
Kravchenko noted that the investigation will determine who made the decision to hold the event, who approved the location, time, and format of the event, what security measures were in place, and whether the risks were properly assessed under martial law. According to him, 10 people were killed and about 100 others were injured to varying degrees as a result of the russian missile strike.
“In connection with this war crime, the Office of the Prosecutor General is overseeing the criminal proceedings under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. At the same time, criminal proceedings have been initiated under Part 3 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine regarding possible dereliction of duty during the organization and conduct of the event, which led to the loss of life and other serious consequences,” Kravchenko said.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 24, russian occupation forces launched ballistic missile strikes on a military training ground in the Kyiv Region, where an arms exhibition was taking place at the time.
