Ukraine has asked Greece to provide up to 200 PAC-2 missiles from Greek Patriot batteries. Ukrainian officials believe that some of the missiles, which have served the Hellenic Air Force for 23 years, may be nearing the end of their service life.

This was reported by eKathimerini, citing sources.

The request comes after previous talks on a possible transfer of part of Greece's six Patriot batteries failed to produce a deal. While some allies have suggested that Greece could provide some of its Patriot stockpile, Ukrainian requests are now focused on missile stocks, not complete systems.

It is stated that any transfer would require the missiles to be deemed usable but not combat-critical.

According to the report, one of the proposals under discussion involves Greece selling the missiles to Norway, which would then deliver them to Kyiv. Athens has shown no sign of responding positively.

Greek officials say the country is already contributing to the security of its allies by deploying Patriot systems, including a battery in Saudi Arabia that protects critical oil refinery infrastructure.

Greece also said it had previously supplied Ukraine with Sea Sparrow and Crotale missiles after the systems had reached the end of their service life in the Greek armed forces.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukraine needs 300 Patriot missiles to defend itself against the aggressor country of russia during the winter. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made the request to partners at a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing on Monday, July 13.
