President Volodymyr Zelenskyy intends to appoint former Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Taras Kachka as Ukraine's representative to the European Union.
Zelenskyy announced this on his Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
Zelenskyy thanked him for his work in the government and the meaningful and constructive interaction with European institutions, noting that important things have been done, and now we need to develop more sectoral, detailed activity to pass the already open clusters in negotiations with the European Union on Ukraine's accession and focus on communication with both the European Union institutions and the national governments of the EU countries to open the next clusters.
"I believe that Taras will be able to implement this most effectively in the Ukrainian representation to the EU - in Brussels. Also taking into account Taras' high efficiency and experience in trade policy, he will combine this work with the European Union with the function of the trade representative of Ukraine within the framework of our bilateral trade agreements with key partners. Government officials and the diplomatic team of the Office will support Taras in carrying out the assigned tasks," the President noted.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on July 16, the Verkhovna Rada appointed a new Cabinet of Ministers of the new Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi, in particular, Vsevolod Chentsov, who has been the representative of Ukraine to the European Union since August 2021, replaced Taras Kachka as Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration.
