The "East" Military Group stated that the russian authorities' claim that they had allegedly fully captured Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk Region is false—the city is controlled by units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
This is stated in a post by the “East” Operational Command on Facebook.
“The Kremlin regime and the command of the Russian occupation army are once again resorting to false claims and declaring their non-existent ‘successes.’ This time, the occupiers claimed to have ‘captured’ Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk Region,” the post reads.
The “East” Operational Command called this an attempt to “fabricate” successes and emphasized that Kostiantynivka is controlled by units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, with ongoing combat operations in some parts of the city. Defenders are detecting russian attempts to infiltrate, “clearing out” the occupiers, and delivering fire strikes on the enemy’s logistics routes and troop concentrations.
It should be noted that Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary for the russian dictator, stated that putin had been briefed on the complete occupation of the city; however, Peskov did not provide any objective evidence to support this claim.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the British publication The Telegraph previously noted, citing sources, that Kostiantynivka is likely the target of the first phase of the summer offensive campaign by the army of the aggressor country, russia.
According to a report from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, over the past day, the enemy carried out the largest number of attacks—27—in the Kostiantynivka sector, in the areas around the settlements of Kostiantynivka, Dovha Balka, Ivanopillia, Illinivka, and Stepanivka.
