Electricity imports down 25% in June

In June, compared to May, Ukraine reduced electricity imports by 25% to 295,000 MWh.

This is announced by the ExPro publication, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Electricity supplies from Poland decreased the most in June - by 71% compared to the previous month, but imports from Slovakia increased significantly after the completion of repairs to the interstate power transmission line - from 941 MWh in May to 74,300 MWh in June.

The largest share of imports traditionally fell on the Hungarian route, through which 42% of all electricity volumes were delivered.

The second largest in terms of volume was the Slovak border, which accounted for 25% of imports.

Compared to June 2025, electricity imports increased by 42%.

In June, Ukraine exported 151,500 MWh of electricity, which is 61% more than in May.

The largest export volumes, 56%, were carried out across the Hungarian border.

Despite the growth in exports, Ukraine continues to be a net importer of electricity.

It is noted that in January-June 2026, Ukraine imported 4.3 million MWh of electricity, while exports for this period amounted to 309,000 MWh.

Thus, in the first half of 2026, the volume of imports exceeded exports by almost 14 times.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in May, compared to April, Ukraine increased its electricity exports by 2.8 times to 94,000 MWh.
