President Volodymyr Zelenskyy after the massive russian attack on the night of Thursday, July 2, emphasized that Ukraine is very much counting on the US decision on licenses for missiles for Patriot air defense systems.
Zelenskyy announced this on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"And it is especially important that we move towards the implementation of our agreements on the production of anti-ballistic missiles. We are also very much counting on the United States' decision on licenses for "Patriots" and other joint work: this is what can stop the war and similar strikes," he noted.
Zelenskyy reported that the elimination of the consequences of the russian attack is ongoing in Kyiv.
Damage has been recorded in more than 20 locations in the city, and these are mostly residential buildings.
An ambulance station, a scientific institute, a hotel, and enterprises were also damaged.
According to him, as of now it is known that 13 people were killed from this russian strike, more than 90 people were injured.
Five victims were in the Kharkiv Region, including a child, and two in the Kyiv Region, where civilian infrastructure was also hit.
Zelenskyy noted that that night the russians also hit the Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia and Cherkasy Regions.
In total, that night russia launched more than 70 missiles of various types at Ukraine, almost half of which were ballistic, and almost 500 attack drones, including jet Shaheds.
The main strike was aimed at Kyiv, the Ukrainian defenders of the sky managed to shoot down a significant number of attack vehicles, but not all.
The President emphasized that the supply of air defense for Ukraine is a priority and critical issue.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy previously stated that the Ukrainian defense industry seeks to expand its own production of high-tech PAC-3 missiles for Patriot air defense systems, and obtaining the relevant American licenses will allow Kyiv to independently cover critical needs in sky defense and subsequently provide military assistance to other allies.
