Temporary restrictions on freight traffic will be imposed at the Ukrainian-Romanian border on June 29 and 30. It was reported by the State Customs Service of Ukraine, citing information from the Romanian side.
The changes in traffic flow are due to difficult weather conditions and high temperatures. The restrictions will be in effect for at least two days at the “Krasnoilsk–Vicovu de Sus” and “Porubne–Siret” border crossing points from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
During this time, customs officials will not allow trucks to leave Ukraine, and their further movement through Romanian territory will also be suspended. It is noted that the ban applies to absolutely all trucks, including empty ones. The schedule of restrictions may be adjusted depending on further changes in temperature conditions.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, temperatures of 40.5°C in Poland and 41.7°C in Germany have set new all-time records for those countries.
Currently, 150 million people in Europe are experiencing extreme heat, with more than 1,300 deaths.
French health officials stated that during the record-breaking heatwave, which has been affecting most of Western Europe for several days, approximately 1,000 more deaths were recorded than expected.
