After several temporary postponements, the United States has reinstated sanctions against the russian oil companies Rosneft and Lukoil. The latest easing of the sanctions regime expired on June 16. Vladyslav Vlasiuk, the President of Ukraine’s representative on sanctions policy, has announced this, according to Ukrinform.
“The US sanctions against Rosneft and Lukoil, imposed in October, have once again taken full effect after several temporary waivers. The latest waiver expired on June 16 and was not extended,” Vlasiuk noted.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in March, the US temporarily exempted russian oil from sanctions for one month, allowing traders to conclude deals without fear of secondary sanctions.
Additionally, in June, the US Department of the Treasury did not announce an extension of the exemption for russian oil from sanctions, which had been introduced for 30 days in March of this year and subsequently extended in April and May.
