Russian occupation forces carried out targeted attacks on locomotives in two regions of Ukraine, resulting in the death of an assistant engineer who was unable to evacuate in time. Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, the chairman of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia, reported this on Facebook on Thursday, June 25.

Pertsovskyi noted that russian occupiers carried out targeted strikes on locomotives in Zaporizhzhia and in the Sumy Region. According to him, two crews were able to evacuate in time, so none of them were injured.

"... but the third strike in Zaporizhzhia turned into a tragedy—the engineer managed to get to safety, but the assistant engineer, who was in the rear cab, could not be saved. All the details are being investigated. We rescue dozens of train crews every week, but every life taken by the enemy is a tragedy that will stay with us forever and can never be undone,” wrote the chairman of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia.
