Russia, the aggressor nation, is rapidly intensifying the militarization of higher education, integrating educational institutions ever more deeply into its war machine. It was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD).
According to the Center, in addition to the mass recruitment of students into unmanned aerial vehicle units, the russian authorities are resorting to direct coercion. Starting September 1, 2026, a mandatory basic course on unmanned systems will be introduced at all transportation universities in the aggressor country.
It is noted that 19 specialized universities and 86 of their branches across the country are covered by this program. This means that at least 150,000 university students (and, including community colleges, more than 250,000 young people) are now required to acquire skills that the aggressor state intends to use later in the war against Ukraine.
“Such steps once again confirm that the current Russian authorities have absolutely no interest in education or human development. The state does not need qualified specialists capable of critical thinking. The Russian education system today functions solely as an assembly line that turns students into an obedient workforce and ‘cannon fodder’ for war,” the CCD statement reads.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, according to the CCD, russia is preparing a legal justification for new military invasions.
