Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke by phone with US President Donald Trump. Dmytro Lytvyn, the Ukrainian President’s communications adviser, has reported this, according to a report by Suspilne on Sunday, June 14.
Lytvyn confirmed that the leaders of both countries spoke by phone. According to him, during the conversation, Zelenskyy congratulated Trump on his birthday and also discussed russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.
"The politicians discussed the next steps in negotiations to end Russia’s war against Ukraine and diplomatic measures. Overall, the call was substantive," Lytvyn said.
The conversation lasted about 30-35 minutes, the advisor to the President of Ukraine noted.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on June 14, The Guardian reported that US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy would attend the G7 summit in Evian, France, on June 15–17, but no bilateral meeting between the leaders is planned.
As a reminder, Trump will celebrate his 80th birthday today, June 14, with a grand spectacle—a mixed martial arts cage fight on the famous South Lawn of the White House.
