The Central Election Commission has registered former MP Andrii Levus (People's Front) as a member of the Verkhovna Rada from the European Solidarity party, replacing the late Stepan Kubiv. This is stated in a CEC press release, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"During today’s meeting, the Commission reviewed Andrii Levus’s application and the necessary documents and, in accordance with election law, registered him as a member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, elected in the extraordinary elections for Members of Parliament of Ukraine on July 21, 2019, in the nationwide multi-member electoral district from the European Solidarity political party,” the statement reads.

Levus was included in this party’s electoral list under No. 29. He will assume his parliamentary powers upon taking the oath in the Verkhovna Rada.

Levus, 46, served as an MP of the 8th convocation from 2014 to 2019 (People’s Front), and in 2014, he served as a deputy head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) and the head of the Maidan Self-Defense Command (2013–2014). In 2021, the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) acquitted former MP Levus, who had been accused of illegally receiving compensation for housing rent.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on May 18, it was announced that MP Stepan Kubiv had died suddenly at the age of 64.

The Central Election Commission recognized Denys Piatyhorets of the European Solidarity party as the elected member of the Verkhovna Rada to replace the late Kubiv. Zaporizhzhia-based blogger and volunteer, former deputy head of the Volyn Regional State Administration Denys Piatyhorets (No. 28 on the electoral list), announced that he is declining the parliamentary seat.
