President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called russian dictator vladimir putin’s response to the letter “weak” and emphasized that the russian side is once again choosing war.
He said this in an evening address.
"Unfortunately, the Russian side is once again choosing war—everyone heard today’s response. A weak response. He simply does not want to end the war," the statement reads.
Zelenskyy believes that putin’s response has disappointed “many around the world.”
"He doesn’t want to change anything; he doesn’t want to admit that his war appeals only to him and those who profit from it—they were all smiling broadly today. This means there must be less money in Russia and more pressure on Russia," he emphasized.
Finally, Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to those who are helping Ukraine and “who want real peace.”
As a reminder, yesterday, June 4, President Zelenskyy stated that he had written an open letter to putin, in which he proposed meeting on neutral territory to bring the war to a dignified conclusion.
The russian dictator rejected President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s public letter. Putin said he had read Zelenskyy’s letter but saw no point in meeting with the Ukrainian leader. Later, the kremlin leader stated that russia would continue to pursue the so-called “denazification” of Ukraine, which russian propaganda cites as one of the reasons for the war.
