Russian dictator vladimir putin has rejected an open letter from President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in which Zelenskyy proposed that they meet to end the war. Putin made this statement while speaking at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Putin said that he had read Zelenskyy’s letter but saw no point in meeting with the Ukrainian leader.

"Well, why do we need such agreements? Look, I don’t see the point in meeting. The point is only for the Ukrainian side—to stop the advance of our armed forces. That’s all," putin said.

The russian dictator added that moscow needs agreements not for three months or six months, but for the “long term.”

"Let the experts do their work, come up with some solutions, and after that we can meet, be present, as they say, during the signing of some documents. Or even sign something—but first we need to find a solution," putin said.

Later, the kremlin leader stated that russia would continue to push for the so-called “denazification” (which russian propaganda cites as one of the reasons for the war) of Ukraine.

He also reiterated that the russian army is allegedly close to establishing control over the Donbas.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, yesterday, June 4, President Zelenskyy stated that he had written an open letter to putin, in which he proposed meeting on neutral territory to bring the war to a dignified conclusion.

As a reminder, on June 3, Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is ready for any format of a diplomatic end to the war, but for now is forced to wait its turn until the US finishes all its wars.
