Romanian President Nicușor Dan has published photos of the wreckage of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that struck a residential apartment building in the Romanian city of Galați on the night of May 29. This is according to a post on Dan’s official Facebook page.
"The drone that crashed on Thursday night in Galați is a Russian-made 'Geran-2.' This is the unequivocal conclusion of a technical report prepared by experts from Romanian government agencies," Dan wrote.
According to him, the inscription "GERAN-2" in Cyrillic was found on the debris discovered in Galați. The analyzed electronic components, navigation systems, control modules, engine, and structural elements bear similarities to other "Geran-2" drones that have previously been detected on multiple occasions within Romanian territory.

Dan added that the report also showed that the manufacturing markings, technical inscriptions, structural characteristics, and materials used correspond to the same manufacturing process as that of the "Geran-2" drones analyzed in recent years.

In addition, physical and chemical analyses confirmed the presence of the same types of materials and fuel that have been repeatedly found in drones of this series.
"Based on all these facts, the investigation unequivocally concludes that the fragments recovered in Galați originate from a Russian-made Geran-2 drone," wrote the President of Romania.
According to him, russia, the aggressor state, bears full responsibility for the fact that this drone entered Romanian territory and struck a residential building, causing injuries and property damage.
The results of the investigation will be communicated to the European Union and Romania’s allies in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on the night of May 28–29, a drone struck the roof of a multi-story residential building in the Romanian city of Galați. It is located near the border with the Odesa Region.
Romanian President Nicușor Dan later stated that the russian drone may have crashed into the building in Galați as a result of Ukraine’s air defense actions, which were repelling a massive attack on the Odesa Region that night. At the same time, Dan emphasized that russia bears full responsibility.
As a reminder, on May 29, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a telephone conversation with his Romanian counterpart. The leaders agreed to work together to strengthen airspace security.
