In Romania, drone crashed into multi-storey building near border with Odesa Region, 70 people evacuated

On the night of May 29, a drone hit a multi-storey building in the municipality of Galați near the border with the Odesa Region. After the incident, 70 residents were evacuated from the damaged part of the building, two more people were injured and sought medical help.

This was reported by the Romanian Ministry of Defense.

The aerial object was recorded by radars even before it hit the roof of the building and exploded.

During the air alert, two F-16 fighter jets were on duty in the sky, which had permission to hit targets throughout the entire period of the threat.

Units of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Romanian Information Service and the police are working on the site.

The National Military Command Center informed the General Inspectorate for Emergencies about the need to launch the population alert system. After that, RO-Alert messages were sent to residents of the border counties of Tulcea, Galați and Brăila.

According to the conclusions of the Romanian Information Service, after the hit, the entire combat unit of the drone detonated. At that time, the Odesa Region was under russian attacks.

As a reminder, Romania raised fighter jets due to the russian drone attack on the Odesa Region on May 19, and also warned the population near the border with Ukraine about the threat.
