The national electronic communications operator Kyivstar, a subsidiary of Kyivstar Group Ltd (Nasdaq: KYIV; KYIVW), is expanding its energy assets and announcing the acquisition of six solar power plants in the Lviv Region.
This was outlined in a company statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
The statement said that the acquired assets have a total installed capacity of 105 MW, and the value of the transaction was UAH 3.6 billion (USD 80.8 million).
The company noted that with the new assets, the total volume of Kyivstar's "green" generation has increased to 118 MW and this will allow it to produce electricity equivalent to about 30% of the company's current annual consumption.
Electricity from the acquired group of solar power plants will be supplied to the unified power system of Ukraine in accordance with current market and regulatory rules, which will allow Kyivstar to partially hedge risks associated with fluctuations in electricity prices.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, at a meeting on November 6, 2025, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine granted permission to the mobile communications operator Kyivstar to acquire a controlling stake in the authorized capital of the renewable energy producer Sanvin 11.
In December 2025, the company became the owner of the first solar power plant Sanvin 11 with a capacity of 13 MW.
Kyivstar Group Ltd (Kyivstar) is a holding company listed on the Nasdaq exchange and manages the activities of Kyivstar PJSC, which is the leading electronic communications operator in Ukraine and the first Ukrainian company traded on the US stock exchange.
