The Verkhovna Rada is considering introducing a procedure to remove women from military registration who were registered in violation of regulations. It was reported by the Rada’s press service, according to the Ukrainian News agency.
According to the report, on May 25, the Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence reviewed a draft law on the procedure for removing women from military registration who were registered in violation of Ukrainian law (No. 15116-1).
It is noted that the bill clearly specifies the grounds on which women registered for military service in violation of the law must be removed from the registry. In particular, it introduces a procedure for removal from the registry based on the individual’s application and the results of a corresponding check by a territorial recruitment and social support center.
The document also provides for a mechanism to reinstate registration if a woman was removed by mistake.
"The purpose of the bill is to protect the rights of female citizens in cases of incorrect registration. The military registration of women who were registered in violation of the law will be rectified," emphasized Committee Chair Oleksandr Zavitnevych.
The committee decided to recommend that the Verkhovna Rada adopt draft law No. 15116-1 as a basis and in its entirety.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in April, the Ministry of Defense announced that it had resolved the issue of the “wanted” status for women in the “Reserve+” mobile app, which arose due to a technical error at one of the district territorial recruitment and social support centers, where women were mistakenly registered for military service.
Military registration is voluntary for most women in Ukraine, with the exception of those in medical and pharmaceutical professions, who are required to register.
