Today, May 21, Lithuanian military continues search for drone that is suspected of causing air alert in some areas of the country yesterday.

This is reported by Lithuanian broadcaster LRT.

"Yesterday we had to stop (in conducting the search for the UAV - ed.) due to the onset of darkness, so today additional forces are being involved. The weather seems favorable, the clouds are not very low, and, as yesterday, a helicopter will be involved. Up to 100 servicemen from both the ground forces and the military police will continue what we started yesterday," Raimundas Vaikšnoras, Chief of the General Staff of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, told the publication.

According to Vaikšnoras, information provided by residents is particularly important, including testimonies, video recordings or other materials that can help identify or determine the possible location of the object.

Head of the National Crisis Management Center Vilmantas Vitkauskas noted that if the object is not found, the search zone will shift south, as the aircraft could have reached the territory of Belarus.

"If nothing is found, the search area will move further south, as the question remains whether it crashed here or managed to reach Belarus. [...] Until the object is found, no one can say for sure, but all the parameters recorded by radars [...] point to a drone," Vitkauskas said.

Recall that on May 20, drone activity was recorded in areas near the border in eastern Lithuania. Later, the warning was extended to the capital Vilnius and surrounding areas.

In particular, the head of the National Crisis Management Center Vilmantas Vitkauskas said that one drone was spotted over the Vilnius district. Subsequently, a "red" - emergency - alert level was declared in the region.
