Following the declaration of an air raid alert in Vilnius, the Lithuanian capital, the country’s leaders—President Gitanas Nausėda, Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė, and members of the Seimas—were evacuated to shelters.

It was reported by the Lithuanian broadcaster LRT.

Following the air raid alert, Lithuanian officials were evacuated to emergency shelters. Frederikas Janson, an aide to the head of state, confirmed that Gitanas Nausėda and staff of the Presidential Administration were evacuated to a safe location.

Prime Minister’s spokesperson Ignas Dobrovolskas also confirmed that Inga Ruginiene had been evacuated to a shelter.

According to the publication’s correspondent, a similar evacuation order was issued in the Seimas, where politicians and staff were escorted to a shelter in the basement.

Shortly before 11:00 a.m., the air raid alert in Vilnius, which had been declared earlier due to the detection of a drone, was lifted.

As a reminder, on May 20, drone activity was detected in areas near the border in eastern Lithuania. The warning was later extended to the capital, Vilnius, and surrounding areas.

In particular, Vilmantas Vitkauskas, head of the National Crisis Management Center, stated that one drone had been spotted over the Vilnius region. Subsequently, a “red”—emergency—alert level was declared in the region.
