The Chinese Foreign Ministry has called the Financial Times' report that Chinese leader Xi Jinping said in a conversation with US President Donald Trump that russian leader vladimir putin may regret the invasion of Ukraine "pure fabrication."

This was stated by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun, quoted by Ukrinform.

When asked to comment on the Financial Times article, which alleged Xi's remarks, the spokesman described it as fabrication.

"The information you provided is contrary to the facts and is pure fiction," Guo said.

Recall that, according to an FT article citing several sources, during the summit in Beijing, leader Xi Jinping allegedly told Trump that putin may regret his decision to launch a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The resonant message appeared against the backdrop of preparations for the russian leader's own visit to Beijing, which is scheduled to arrive on May 19 - just four days after Trump's departure.

During the visit, according to Bloomberg sources, putin plans to discuss the Power of Siberia-2 gas pipeline project to China. Russia hopes that the turmoil in energy markets caused by the conflict in the Middle East will force China to show greater flexibility in negotiations.
