The Ukrainian Armed Forces already have domestically produced missiles in service that, in terms of their performance and range, are comparable to or even surpass the German Taurus missiles. Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has stated this during a joint press conference with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, according to Ukrinform.
The minister emphasized that Ukraine is gradually gaining independence in the production of long-range weapons.
"When it comes to the Taurus, it goes without saying that we now have missiles with similar or even greater ranges... today we are already achieving a certain degree of independence in this area," Fedorov noted, recalling successful strikes on targets in russia at a distance of 1,500 km.
Despite the successes of the domestic defense-industrial complex, Ukraine remains interested in acquiring German missiles. Fedorov noted that one can never have too many weapons, so Kyiv remains open to receiving Western arms to strengthen its capabilities. Currently, the parties are continuing their dialogue on expanding military aid.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine and Germany have officially formalized agreements to strengthen air defense and are moving toward large-scale joint weapons production.
Today, May 11, the German defense minister arrived in Kyiv for talks on the defense industry.
