Ukraine and Germany have officially formalized agreements to strengthen their air defense capabilities and are moving toward large-scale joint weapons production. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this following a meeting with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, according to Ukrinform.
Currently, the parties are already planning to implement six joint defense projects, which, according to the head of state, is only the beginning of strategic relations. A separate item on the agenda was the “drone deal”—a plan for cooperation in the field of unmanned systems, designed for the next 10 years.
Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of the signed document regarding air defense support, but deliberately refrained from disclosing all the details of the future assistance.
"I am very pleased that we have begun working on joint production between our countries. I think this is a real step forward, a strong step. We can already count on six projects, but I think this is just the beginning of our relationship. And I want to discuss with you a ten-year drone deal, a joint production agreement between Ukraine and Germany. And, of course, we are very grateful for the decision to support air defense, and that we signed this document—a wonderful document. I won’t go into further details. Let this be a surprise for the Russians,” Zelenskyy said.
As a reminder, the German Defense Minister arrived in Kyiv for talks on the defense industry.
