At the Jogyesa Temple in South Korea, a humanoid robot "Gabi" joined the monks in prayer on the occasion of the Buddha's birthday. During the ceremony, he was given a Buddhist name and dressed in traditional robes.

This was reported by the South Korean Yonhap News Agency.

After the initiation ceremony, the robot folded its palms and participated in the prayer in honor of Buddha together with the monks. The symbols of the Lotus Lantern Festival were glued to its hand, and a prayer necklace of 108 beads was put around its neck.

The 130-centimeter-tall humanoid robot G1 was created by Unitree Robotics. "Gabi" also plans to visit the Lantern Festival at the end of the month.
