A robot from the Chinese brand Honor has completed the Beijing half marathon in 50 minutes 26 seconds, 6 minutes 12 seconds faster than the current human world record, Reuters reports.

The race featured more than 100 humanoid robots running alongside 12,000 competitors. All three places were taken by Honor robots, which worked autonomously.

The human winner lags behind the fastest robot by more than 10 minutes. Several leading models have demonstrated results that exceed the performance of professional athletes.

Compared to last year, the number of participating robots has increased from 20 to over 100. Almost half of them were able to complete difficult sections of the distance without remote control by operators this time.

During the previous race, most of the robots failed to reach the finish line. The best result then was 2 hours and 40 minutes, which was more than twice the best time among humans.

As a reminder, the first russian humanoid robot based on artificial intelligence fell during a public presentation in Moscow. The incident occurred on November 11 during an event of the manufacturer AIdol.
