The confirmed losses of the army of the aggressor country of russia since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine have exceeded 216,000 people killed. This is stated in the investigation of BBC News, Mediazona and a group of volunteers.
Over the past two weeks, journalists and volunteers have established the names of more than 4,600 soldiers of the russian army who were killed in the war in Ukraine. This is higher than the average rate of increase in the number of deaths compared to last year.
It is emphasized that most of the deaths confirmed over the past month concern those occupiers who were considered missing since 2024 and were eventually recognized as killed by the russian side.
The largest number of residents of the Republic of Bashkortostan were killed in the war in Ukraine - 9,886 people. Next are the Republic of Tatarstan (8,230 killed), Sverdlovsk Oblast (7,121 killed) and Krasnodar Krai (6,728 killed).
At the same time, if the losses of the russian army are calculated taking into account the density of the male population in each region, then the leaders in terms of the number of killed are the Republic of Tuva, the Republic of Buryatia and the Altai Krai.
It is noted that since October 2024, the daily number of confirmed soldiers of the russian army killed in the war against Ukraine has not fallen below 120 people.
Experts believe that the data of journalists and volunteers may cover from 45% to 65% of the real number of dead soldiers of the russian army. This is due to the fact that the bodies of many occupiers have not yet been evacuated from the front line, as well as the fact that some deaths remain unaccounted for, since the authorities or relatives do not publish information about their deaths.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on April 28, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the irretrievable losses of the russian army had reached 60% of the total. Despite this, Moscow is preparing a wave of offensive operations.
Recall that the losses of the russian occupation army in March of this year were the largest ever since the start of the full-scale invasion.
