Train collides with truck crane in Lviv Region: driver killed

The train driver was killed as a result of a collision between a Ukrzaliznytsia train and a truck crane at a level crossing in the Lviv Region on the morning of May 1.

This was reported by the chairman of the board of the company Oleksandr Pertsovskyi.

The truck crane drove to the level crossing while the alarm was on, after which it collided with the train.

Doctors who were on the train tried to resuscitate the driver, but he died from his injuries. The driver's assistant and the driver of the truck crane were hospitalized.

There were no fatalities or injuries among the passengers and train crew. The damaged train is currently being towed to resume movement.

Pertsovskyi noted that the deceased driver was a veteran who had returned from the front and worked on the railway. He also stated his intention to seek "justice and the harshest possible punishment."

The chairman of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia called for compliance with the rules of crossing railway crossings and drew attention to the risks of violations.
