On April 28, the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP, Netishyn, Khmelnytskyi Region) reconnected a power unit to the grid following scheduled preventive maintenance.

This is stated in a report on the website of the Energoatom company, according to the Ukrainian News agency.

It is noted that this is the first power unit to be repaired as part of the 2026 maintenance campaign.

Power ramp-up is underway.

The statement says that nuclear power plant workers completed the repairs ahead of schedule, shortening the work period by four days.

This will provide an additional 70 million kWh of generated electricity. ️

Energoatom CEO Pavlo Kovtoniuk noted that the repair campaign began in April and will continue through October.

The company plans to conduct the work in such a way as to spread it out over time and avoid creating a significant shortage in the grid.

The main goal is to approach the fall-winter period ready to operate all nine units located in territory controlled by Ukraine.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, last year the Energoatom National Nuclear Energy Generating Company completed the maintenance campaign at Ukrainian nuclear power plants on October 24.

The Khmelnytskyi NPP consists of two power units (VVER-1000) with a total capacity of 2,000 MW (connected in 1987 and 2004).
