On April 23, 2026, the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities (Energy Commission) adopted a decision to revise the price caps in the electricity market—specifically in the day-ahead, intraday, and balancing markets.
This is stated in a Energy Commission's press release, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
The statement notes that the decision was made following open discussions with market participants.
Most of the comments and proposals submitted were taken into account and published on the Energy Commission's official website.
Starting May 1, 2026, the following price caps will apply:
- on the day-ahead and intraday markets: maximum – UAH 15,000/MWh, minimum – UAH 10/MWh;
- on the balancing market: maximum – UAH 17,000/MWh, minimum – UAH 0.01/MWh.
"The decision was made taking into account the positions of all stakeholders, in particular NPC Ukrenergo and JSC Market Operator," the Energy Commission concludes.
It is noted that the revision of price caps is intended to create conditions for stable market operation amid a generation deficit, as well as to increase importers’ interest in supplying electricity to meet peak demand.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Energy Commission planned to raise electricity price caps in the day-ahead market, the intraday market, and the balancing market.
The National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities has decided to increase electricity transmission tariffs from January 1, 2026, to March 31, 2026, by +4% to UAH 713.68/MWh (the current tariff is UAH 686.23/MWh), and from April 1 through the end of 2026 by 8.3% to UAH 742.91/MWh.
