In March, according to preliminary data, the amount of funds held by individuals in bank accounts denominated in hryvnia and foreign currency decreased for the first time since March of last year—by 0.6% to UAH 1,440.118 billion.
This is evidenced by data from the National Bank, as reported by the Ukrainian News agency.
Since the beginning of the year, the volume of population deposits in banks has grown by 3% from UAH 1,398.536 billion.
Population deposits in hryvnia in banks decreased by 1.3% to UAH 956.116 billion during the reporting period.
At the same time, the volume of population foreign currency deposits in hryvnia equivalent increased by 0.8% to UAH 484.002 billion during the reporting month.
Deposits of legal entities (hryvnia and foreign currency) decreased by 0.3% to UAH 1,644.629 billion during the reporting period.
The average interest rate on hryvnia deposits (monthly average) in the reporting month decreased by 0.2 percentage point to 9.8% for legal entities and increased by 0.3 percentage point to 10.2% for individuals.
The interest rate on foreign currency deposits for legal entities was 0.6%, and for individuals, 0.9%.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in 2025, the volume of population deposits in banks increased by 15.4% to UAH 1,212.775 billion.
In 2024, the volume of population deposits in banks increased by 12.6% from UAH 1,078.346 billion.
In 2023, the volume of population deposits in banks increased by 16.5% from UAH 926.488 billion.
In 2022, population deposits in banks increased by 29.3% from UAH 719.418 billion.
In 2021, population deposits in banks increased by 6.8% from UAH 674.718 billion to UAH 720.932 billion.
