Ukraine's agreement with the European Union to unblock a EUR 90 billion support package for Ukraine is already being implemented. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this on his Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"Our agreement with the European Union to unblock a EUR 90 billion support package for Ukraine for two years, as well as a new sanctions package against Russia for this war, is actually being implemented," he said.
Zelenskyy emphasized that russia must end its war and that it can only have motives to do so when both support for Ukraine and pressure on russia are sufficient.
He noted that Ukraine fulfills its obligations in relations with the European Union, even in such controversial issues as the operation of the Druzhba pipeline, and expects that the European side will do what Ukraine needs to protect lives and bring about full European integration.
The President emphasized that it was important for the European support package to start working promptly.
Zelenskyy said that he would talk with European leaders about opening negotiations on Ukraine's membership in the EU, as well as about strengthening sanctions against russia and further development of the European energy system so that russia loses the ability to manipulate energy supplies to Europe.
He noted that today and tomorrow are particularly important days for Ukrainian European diplomacy.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on April 21, Zelenskyy said that Ukraine has repaired the Druzhba oil pipeline damaged by the russian strike and is waiting for the European Union to unblock funding.
