Ukraine has repaired the Druzhba oil pipeline, damaged by the russian strike, and is waiting for the European Union to unblock funding. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"As specified in the communication with the European Union, Ukraine has completed repair work on the section of the Druzhba oil pipeline that was damaged by the russian strike. The pipeline can resume its operation. Although no one can now guarantee that russian strikes on the pipeline infrastructure will not be repeated, our specialists have provided the basic conditions for the resumption of the operation of the pipeline system and equipment," he said.
Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine associates this with the unblocking of the European support package, which has already been approved by the European Council, and the opening of negotiations on Ukraine's membership in the EU.
The President added that the EU should also continue systemic sanctions pressure on russia and work to further diversify energy supplies to Europe.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on April 20, the leader of the Hungarian Tisza party, Peter Magyar, who won the parliamentary elections in Hungary, appealed to Zelenskyy to open the Druzhba oil pipeline.
Earlier, Zelenskyy promised the EU that Ukraine would complete the repair of the Druzhba oil pipeline this spring.
