Two Rosneft oil refineries - Tuapse and Novokuibyshevsk - were forced to stop processing raw materials as a result of drone strikes. This is reported by Reuters, citing industry sources.

The Tuapse refinery, which is the only one on the Black Sea coast of russia, has been out of operation since April 16. Then drones attacked the port of Tuapse, and on April 20, there was a second attack. The attacks damaged the port infrastructure and oil tanks, and the smoke from the fire spread for hundreds of kilometers. Due to the inability to ship products, the plant shut down its only primary refining unit with a capacity of 12 million tons per year.

On April 18, the Novokuibyshevsk refinery in the Samara Oblast (capacity of 8.3 million tons per year) also shut down. Both primary refining units, AVT-11 and AVT-9, are out of commission at the refinery. Experts estimate that the repair of the most damaged unit, AVT-11, could take more than a month.

According to Reuters, these strikes were part of a large-scale campaign that forced russia to cut oil production by 300,000-400,000 barrels per day in April. This is the largest monthly drop in production since the COVID-19 pandemic, as the aggressor is unable to place surplus raw materials due to infrastructure damage.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, residents of Tuapse, Krasnodar Krai, russia, where an oil refinery was attacked on the night of April 20, complained about "oil rain" and sea pollution with oil products.

On the night of April 16, explosions were heard in the Krasnodar Krai of the russian federation, after which a fire broke out at the oil refinery in Tuapse.
