The head of the National Police Ivan Vyhivskyi noted that the current salaries of police officers are not competitive with other law enforcement agencies.
He said this at a briefing, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"We have already drawn conclusions (after the terrorist attack)... We are not competitive in terms of salaries with other law enforcement agencies. With the SSU, the SBI, and others. We are the largest law enforcement agency and the burden on the budget is high. Still, UAH 27,000 of salary per month is not the right level, since the very shop assistants receive UAH 30,000 of salary," said the head of the National Police.
According to him, this needs to be changed at the legislative level, and the relevant legislative acts are being prepared.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Cabinet of Ministers may consider the issue of raising salaries for police officers.
