The US Eximbank will finance the purchase of American energy equipment for Naftogaz for USD 300 million. Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko has announced this on her Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
She also said that in Washington, D.C., she met with the US Eximbank President John Jovanovic and the bank's team.
"We agreed to launch a mechanism for financing the purchase of American energy equipment for Naftogaz in the amount of USD 300 million. This will help restore gas production facilities destroyed by Russian attacks. We also discussed the parameters of a broader energy sector modernization program worth more than USD 1 billion," she said.
In addition, they considered the possibility of creating a mechanism to support the supply of American LNG to Ukraine on financing terms comparable to the market conditions of the Eurozone.
Svyrydenko noted that to get through the most difficult heating season of 2025-2026, Naftogaz imported a record 900 million cubic meters of American LNG for the country, and Ukraine is interested in increasing the volume of purchases of American gas and deepening cooperation with American financial institutions in this direction.
The parties also considered the possibility of creating a mechanism to support the supply of American LNG to Ukraine on financing terms comparable to the Eurozone market conditions.
They also discussed the formats of financing the purchase of locomotives for Ukrzaliznytsia for its priority needs, including the restoration of rolling stock.
The parties also agreed to sign a memorandum on financing Ukrainian projects in the field of critical minerals and to develop separate programs for the framework financing of Ukrainian dual-use companies.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Naftogaz of Ukraine said that in 2025, the enemy attacked the company's facilities more times than in the previous 3 years combined.
