Ukraine has opened a Food Processing and Distribution Center in Ghana, the first agro hub on the African continent. Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko has announced this on her Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"Ukraine has opened the first agro hub on the African continent - in the Republic of Ghana. Within the framework of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Food from Ukraine initiative, the Food Processing and Distribution Center has been launched... This is a new format of our presence in the world, when humanitarian support is combined with the development of partnership and the local economy," she said.

Svyrydenko noted that the agro hub was created by Ukrainian agribusiness in cooperation with the government of Ghana as a result of agreements reached during the Food from Ukraine conference in November 2025.

According to her, Ukrainian products will be combined with local ones, food packages will be formed and distributed, and the next stage is the development of processing, packaging and portioning directly in Ghana. The first sets include locally produced rice and pasta made in Ghana from Ukrainian flour.

Svyrydenko said that during the opening, 4000 food packages were handed over to the most vulnerable segments of the population, Ghanaian widows.

"We consider Ghana as an important partner in West Africa for humanitarian support and trade development on the west coast of the African continent. We are ready to share our expertise, technologies and experience in increasing yields in order to strengthen global food security together," the Prime Minister said.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in March, the Presidential Office announced that Ukraine was developing a strategy for the first time to expand relations and presence on the African continent.

In October 2024, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha proposed creating a food hub in Oman to bring Ukrainian products to the markets of East Africa.
