Ukraine is developing a strategy to expand its relations and presence on the African continent for the first time. This was stated by the head of the President's Office, Kyrylo Budanov, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

In particular, it is reported that an interdepartmental coordination meeting was held under the chairmanship of Budanov to expand Ukraine's presence on the African continent.

Among other things, the current state of relations between Ukraine and African states and the prospects for their development were discussed, representatives of relevant ministries were heard, and tasks were set to intensify Ukraine's activities in individual African countries.

The head of the President's Office emphasized that in previous years, Ukrainian specialists of various profiles were insufficiently involved in ensuring Ukraine's interests in this part of the world.

The meeting included a presentation of the strategic vision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the development of Ukraine's relations with African states.

The participants identified a list of priority countries on the African continent (the Maghreb and Sub-Saharan Africa regions), as well as states, international organizations and regional associations whose financial mechanisms can be used to promote Ukraine's interests on the African continent.

"For the first time, Ukraine has set itself the goal of comprehensively influencing the situation on the African continent and protecting Ukrainian interests in this part of the world. Ukraine must confirm its status as a competitive and influential geopolitical player, defend its own subjectivity around the world and thus promote its own economic, security and other interests anywhere on the planet," Budanov noted.

Following the results of the meeting, its participants agreed on a draft action plan to implement the adopted decisions and recommended submitting it to the Cabinet of Ministers for consideration. After that, the relevant ministries and departments will receive instructions to ensure the proper and timely implementation of this plan.
