Attempts to establish a dialogue between the US and Iran have so far yielded no results - Tehran has refused to make concessions and has effectively blocked the negotiation process.
According to The Wall Street Journal, mediators from Turkey, Egypt and Pakistan have tried to organize talks between the parties in order to achieve a ceasefire or at least a temporary cessation of hostilities. However, these initiatives have not been successful.
According to sources, the Iranian authorities are not ready to change their position on key demands. "Iran has refused to make concessions on its demands and rejected the proposal to open the Strait of Hormuz," the publication notes.
Also, Tehran has not agreed to even the very fact of a meeting with the American side. In particular, Iranian representatives have refused to hold possible talks in Islamabad in the near future.
In Tehran, they consider the US demands to end the conflict unacceptable, so despite the active diplomatic efforts of several countries, there is currently no progress in the negotiations.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Iranian negotiators rejected the US proposal for peace talks.
