Attempts by Pakistan and other mediators to continue talks between the US and Iran on a ceasefire have "reached a dead end".
Iran allegedly said it did not want to meet with US officials in Islamabad, Pakistan.
This was reported by "informed sources" of the American publication The Wall Street Journal.
The reporters added that Iran called the US demands unacceptable.
It is not known which "US demands" Iran called unacceptable. However, earlier in the American media the only demand of the US President to the Iranian regime was the unblocking of the Strait of Hormuz.
In turn, during the last round of consultations, the Iranian regime put forward its demands for ending the war. These, let us recall, are the payment of reparations by the United States for the damages caused; the complete withdrawal of US troops from bases in the Middle East; providing formal guarantees of non-aggression in the future.
Mediators are currently working on new proposals that could allow the parties to break the diplomatic deadlock.
Meanwhile, Turkey and Egypt continue to try to find a way out of the situation and are considering new venues for negotiations, including Istanbul or the Qatari capital Doha.
