Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said that Ukraine's integration into the EU and NATO is a strategic necessity not only for Kyiv, but also for the entire European continent. According to him, the unique combat experience of the Ukrainian army makes it a key element of the future collective security system. This is reported on X.
Tsahkna emphasized that modern Ukraine has the most powerful military potential in the region, which can become a shield for the whole of Europe.
"NATO says not only that we must provide security guarantees to Ukraine, but also that our region needs security guarantees from Ukraine, since Ukraine is currently the largest, most effective and most experienced military force," the minister wrote on the social network X.
The Estonian diplomat also warned allies against attempts to leave Ukraine in the status of a "buffer zone" or a neutral state. In his opinion, any ambiguity in the status only provokes further expansion of the Kremlin.
"These "gray zones", neutral countries or buffer zones are just a green light for putin to continue aggression against Europe," he stressed.
In conclusion, Tsahkna added that Ukraine's current resistance gives Western countries a critically important resource - time.
"Ukraine is now fighting not only for itself and its freedom, but also gives us time to establish a new structure of European security," the Estonian Foreign Minister concluded, calling for a comprehensive approach to the issue of expanding the Alliance.
As previously reported, ten European states have concluded a large-scale agreement on preparing for joint cross-border evacuation of civilians in the event of an armed conflict on their territory.
